Opuntia ficus-indica

I took these pictures at the Botanical Gardens of the University of Valencia, Spain.


The buds


Some of the blooms were orange.

This is a large portion of the plant, or plants. I suppose it's several growing tightly together. These in this picture are not very tall, therefor the flowers were accessible. Some others were over 10 feet high.


These are the edible fruits that follow the flower. Actually, the 'pads' are eaten as well.






















Here are a few I photographed in Texas.
