'Habranthus' is a name my mother often used. It is the genus name of her favorite flower, Habranthus tubispathus var texensis, the Texas Copper Lily. I use the name in her honor.
Flowers have been the subject of art for so long and so extensively that I feel adding to an over-saturated genre requires an apology. But I can't stop myself. I'd taken hundreds of photos of flowers on my phone without realizing what I was doing. Then one day my husband put a real camera in my hands - suddenly I'm a photographer.

I love taking pictures of flowers, I don't know why exactly, but I could attempt an essay about it. Suffice it to say that if I see a particular flower on the side of the road, I get excited and tell it: I'm coming back to take your picture. Stay put.
